Who are the ITS courses for?

The ITS Academy Biotecnologie Piemonte courses are designed for unemployed young people and adults who hold an upper secondary school diploma and want to build concrete technical skills to enter the world of work. Priority access is given to applicants under 35 at the date of the enrolment application.

How long do the courses last?

Each course lasts 2 years and is divided into 4 semesters, for a total of 1,800 hours of training. Each year comprises 900 hours of theoretical lessons, practical activities, laboratory work and company internships.

Is attendance mandatory?

Yes. To complete the programme, you must attend at least 80% of the total course hours. Lessons take place during the day, five days a week, in sessions of 7–8 hours. During the internship, hours follow those of the host company, up to a maximum of 40 hours per week.

How is teaching delivered?

Teaching alternates theoretical lessons, practical exercises, laboratory activities, visits, company internships and the development of project work. At least 60% of teaching hours are delivered by professionals from companies in the sector, to maintain a direct connection with the world of work.

How does the selection process work?

The courses have limited places, up to a maximum of 30 students per programme. The entrance selection includes tests, written papers and an oral interview, designed to assess basic knowledge and motivation to take on the chosen programme.

Are company internships included?

Yes. Each programme includes at least 35% of internship hours, carried out in the second semester of the second year at partner companies within the ITS Academy Biotecnologie network, in Italy or abroad. The internship has a training purpose and completes the preparation of the outgoing profile.

What qualification do you obtain at the end of the programme?

At the end of the programme, following admission to and successful completion of the final exam, you obtain the Diploma of Specialisation in Applied Technologies, corresponding to Level V of the European Qualifications Framework (EQF). The diploma is a valid qualification for access to public competitive examinations in accordance with current legislation.

Are the courses free?

Yes. The programmes are free because they are funded by the European Union (ESF-RP 21-27), the Piedmont Region and the Italian Ministry of Education and Merit (MIM).
